Description

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has increased our understanding of biology by enabling highly sensitive RNA expression analysis across a wide dynamic range. As NGS applications continue to grow, so does the need for more powerful tools to work with less-than-ideal samples. Clontech¡¯s patented SMART¢ç technology utilizes the template switching activity of reverse transcriptase to enable researchers to analyze their most challenging samples, such as single cells, low-input RNA, noncoding RNA, and RNA from degraded samples. In particular, single-cell RNA-seq is one of the fastest-growing applications of NGS. The SMARTer Ultra¢â Low mRNA-seq family of products, featuring a highly sensitive, dT-primed design, is the gold standard for single-cell analysis. The newest generation of ultra-low input/single-cell mRNA-seq kits takes SMART technology to the next level by incorporating locked nucleic acid (LNA) technology. Most recently, we have expanded our stranded sequencing technology to allow for the generation of Illumina libraries, with rRNA removal from mammalian samples and strand of origin information from as little as 250 pg total RNA. Additional innovations in SMART technology have produced a ligation-free method for generating ChIP (chromatin immunoprecipitation) sequencing libraries. The webinar will present the new technologies being developed for single-cell RNA-seq and other sensitive NGS applications.
